    The department of Production Engineering was started in 1979. The course was started with a view of creating engineers capable of meeting challenges in the evolving manufacturing sector. The current intake is 30. The first Head of the department was Dr. D Balakrishnan. Currently, the department has a faculty strength of 14 people. The department has a high staff student ratio of 1:11. The course was accredited by NBA.
